Property and load assessment
Review of the supply, maximum demand, essential circuits and the loads you need to maintain during an outage.
BackupWire by Allwire
Backup power designed around the property, the available supply and the circuits that genuinely matter—from a safe generator connection to automatic changeover and battery-backed resilience.
BackupWire
The first step is deciding what must keep running and for how long. That allows the generator, battery, changeover equipment and essential circuits to be considered as one coordinated system.
Review of the supply, maximum demand, essential circuits and the loads you need to maintain during an outage.
Selection and connection planning for suitable standby generators, including output quality, capacity, location, fuel and safe operation.
A defined and economical method of transferring selected loads between the public supply and an alternative source.
Automatic mains-failure arrangements where the generator and installation are suitable for unattended starting and transfer, with mains-failure and restoration monitoring options.
Assessment of battery-backed supplies and integration with compatible solar, inverter and generator equipment.
Forward planning for vehicle-to-home technology, subject to compatible vehicles, equipment, network requirements and manufacturer support.
How it works
We establish the outage priorities, available supply, electrical arrangement and practical site constraints.
You receive a defined proposal covering the source, changeover method, supported loads and any enabling work.
The completed arrangement is tested in normal and backup modes, commissioned and explained clearly.
Common questions
Sometimes, but whole-property backup can require a much larger generator. Supporting a planned group of essential circuits is often more practical and economical. A load assessment establishes the right approach.
Manual changeover requires someone to start the generator and deliberately transfer the supply. An automatic system detects mains failure, starts compatible equipment and transfers the load without normal user intervention.
Potentially, subject to its condition, output, earthing arrangement and suitability for the intended loads. It must connect through a properly designed changeover arrangement—never through an improvised lead or socket.
They solve different problems. Batteries are quiet and respond quickly but have finite stored energy; generators can support longer outages if fuel is available. A hybrid arrangement may suit properties needing both immediate and extended backup.
Availability depends on the vehicle, bidirectional charger, manufacturer support and network requirements. Allwire can consider future compatibility without presenting V2H as a universal plug-and-play option.
Areas we cover
BackupWire provides assessment, design and installation support for homes, rural properties, farms, estates and small businesses across Fife, Stirlingshire, Perthshire, Central and West Coast Scotland.
